MODELLING

What made you want to be a model?
I love art, and photography and the sexiness and glamour that can be portrayed through an image…so I wanted to get involved and be part of the creativity which is what drove me to be a model.

What age did you start modelling?
19

How did you get into the modelling industry?
A friend took some pics of me which I showed to an agency who then signed me

What are the pros and cons about the type of modelling industry you are in?
It is a very competitive environment which can be good as it means your are constantly having to improve your game but the knock backs can be tough and dis-heartening. The lifestyle can be great fun, and amazing shoots leave you buzzing.
You need to love your job and the area that you work in…if you have goals and focus on them the hic-cups on the way don’t bother you as much.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY

What’s your weekly food regime?
I like to eat a healthy diet and I love fresh veg. Drinking plenty of water to hydrate your skin and gives you a healthy glow. I do have a weakness for chocolate so have the odd naughty treat every now and then

Whats your weekly exercise regime?
I own 4 horses so my exercise regime is built up around them – mucking out and sweeping can be a great work out! I exercise 7 days a week…but I have never ventured into a gym.

What beauty and hair products do you use on a daily basis?
I love my MAC gel eyeliner, its great for creating smokey eyes
I use my dove therapy heat protective spray everyday – it protects my hair and smells nice!

FASHION

What’s your favourite style that’s in fashion, this season?
I have to confess that I am not a fashion addict – I would rather buy clothes that look good on me than wear a baggy dress covered in spots because its in trend to do so.

What was the last high street item you purchased?
Lingerie from La Senza and jeans from Zara

What do you like men to wear during the day and night time?

During the day nice jeans, tight low cut t-shirt, trendy jacket…by night sexy but relaxed so jeans, nice shirt, suit jacket but worn in a relaxed manner…and NOT trainers!!
What do you think men shouldn’t be wearing these days?
Baseball caps, matching tracksuit top & bottoms, there are a lot of trainers that I dont like. Woolen jumpers with rudolf on them that look like your granny knit them.

FLIRT FACTS

What do you look for in a guy?
Confidence, charisma and good looks

How do you think a man should approach a woman in a bar?
Confidently! – don’t get your mate to go over and do it for you. Catch the girls eye, smile, if she smiles back go over and ask her if she would like a drink…

How can a man keep a woman on her toes?
Do not phone and text 24-7 -its very boring
No icky sicky love letter type stuff
Do not winge and moan
Do not come across insecure – even if you feel it
Girls like confident, independent, successful men. They know other girls like this to…and that is what keeps us on our toes – keeping our man!

Tell us a little bit about your work?
Im a professional photographer/ makeup artist & retoucher . I work for a variety of clients from ”weddings/pregnancy/babies/makeover photoshoots/model portfolios/editorial/magazine.

How did you get into photography?
I was studying beauty therapy after finishing my psychology & english lit a levels .
Every monday we would have a makeup class and my tutor noticed I had a talent with makeup so she wisely told me to create a portfolio – doing different makeup styles on my friends and taking photographs with my digi cam.
Each person I ”made-up” I would pop onto myspace and from there I had people asking me for my photography price list. So I self taught myself with makeup & photography – Best way I think !

How would you describe your style?
My style was very quirky and recently I’ve found myself photographing a lot for clients wanting photos of babies/ families & weddings, so I literally haven’t had time to be experimental or even a little artistic
I’m currently working on some personal projects which I’m hoping to get ”out there” within the next 3 months.

Do you have anyone who works alongside you, such as a make up artist or stylist?
Im a one man band !
I shock people when they ask where is the makeup artist ? Where is the hair stylist? Where is the stylist? Where is the assistant? I laugh and say – its just me !
It can be very mentally & physically draining – but I’m so passionate about the vision I want to create – so I prefer to create the vision from scratch !

How do you go about finding models?
I have worked with models that come from all over europe ”Spain/ Belgium/ France/ London/ Birmingham/ Manchester/ Leeds – All to Cardiff where I’m based”
Some are very professional and others are disappointing – strangely enough some regular everyday girls & guys can be more interesting to photograph.
I used to photograph three main models that were so perfect for posing & perfect for working together on a few spontaneous photoshoots.
Nell Nabaroo / Chloe jasmine Whichello and Donatella Pegler – Still modelling now.

Are you a full time photographer or do you work as anything else?
This is my one and only job ! I couldn’t and wouldn’t ever be or do anything else .
I worked in topshop a few years ago as a manager aswell as doing photoshoots and it was too much for me and I felt I couldn’t put my ”all” into photoshoots.
I loved the atmosphere in topshop – a variety of personalities & perfect clothing for shoots.

Is there anybody or anything you would love to photograph?
The next few months projects I’m currently planning are my next big things
If I could shoot anyone as in – well known celebs … it’d have to be some welsh celebrities for a charity idea i have going on !
CHARLOTTE ? TOM ? RHYS ? CERYS ? … UP FOR IT ? LOL
Wesh ? Because I’m welsh myself and would love to see the passion the welsh have for they’re individual charities … its only a few photographs of each of them that could make a huge impact.

Do you have any workshops on the horizon?
I was contemplating this a few months back for some students that keep asking me for one on one tutoring
If I get some time I will try and put some dates together

What equipment do you use?
In my kit i have a Canon 5D Mark 2
24-105 L Canon Lens
100 mm L Canon Lens
2 Speedlites 580′s
2 Bowens Gemini
& 32 Inch Apple for retouching

Anything you’re saving up for?
Want to treat me ? ”laugh”
Im desperate for a 70- 200 L 2.8 Lens

What would you like to be doing in 5 years from now?
Well this is what I am going to be doing for the rest of my life and its taken me 5 years to work to where I have got now .
With these personal projects i have in the pipeline – I’m hoping shooting abroad for lingerie companies & possibly something a little different … Im looking for Passion/ Colour/ Excitement/Story’s.

Tell us a little bit about your work?

Its kind of a mix between fashion and glamour, although i love doing fashion and glamour shoots i like to my own thing merging the two.. I call it glashion..

How did you get into photography?

I studied photography as an A level at school and it was always just a hobby, I raced moto-x for years an always enjoyed taking photos of my friends racing while i wasnt, i guess it was just natural progression to start shooting different subjects after i stopped racing.

How would you describe your style?

Erm.. style?? haha.. i like to try and be unique which can be very hard sometimes, especially as i sit next to Adi Dewey every day.. its hard to not be influenced by someone like him.. Also, as we all know there are no original shots out there anymore, everything has been done before, i just try and put my spin on it..

Do you have anyone who works alongside you, such as a make up artist or stylist?

I have two or three make up artists i can call on at any time, all great at what they do and all add to the mood of the shoot, i like work to be fun and a fun team helps a model to relax and produce better images..

How do you go about finding models?

Social networking sites are a massive help, a very high percentage or my work comes from them.. Other than that its great that i work with one of the best agencies around, Girl Management, the standard of the girls that are sent to me from Vickie and Lara at Girl is second to none..

Are you a full time photographer or do you work as anything else?

I’m now full time, i made the ‘leap of faith’ last November and so far its paying off a treat, i’m loving my work and keeping more than busy..

Is there anybody or anything you would love to photograph?

There are a few things/people i’d love to shoot, strangely enough, one of the top ones is Queen Elizabeth II, i’m a huge fan of the royal family and although it would be a massive change from the kind of work i do now its something i would jump at the chance to do..

Do you have any workshops on the horizon?

At Studio One in Peterborough where i am based we regularly run model days and as from march we are starting a new photography club to bring together the local community of photographers and models.. something we think that will benefit everyone involved..

What equipment do you use?

I shoot with a Canon 7D, i have a 50mm, 1.4 prime lens, which i love, apart from that i have a range of lenses from 10mm to 300mm

Anything you’re saving up for?

I would love the new Canon 1DX when its released later this year, something i shall definitely be having a good look at when i visit the ‘Focus on Imaging’ show in March.

What would you like to be doing in 5 years from now?

More important than anything, i’d love to still be a full time photographer, recently it seems so many people are having to give up, of course it would be great to be shooting covers for high end publications at the same time..
